Li-ion Batteries

The technology progress in portable electronics or electric vehicle technology has been significant over the last years. Nevertheless, the capacity, charging time, the power or lifetime of the usable batteries is limited by the commonly used materials and is insufficient. The solution for both mentioned problems can be found by introducing nanotechnology into the field. Batteries using nanoparticles as a material for their electrodes have the potential to fulfil new technology demands. Such batteries already exist, but there is still a lot of space for further improvement of both battery properties and simple and cheap manufacturing.


In our research group, the electrospraying technology for layer deposition is introduced as a cheap technique to produce materials for the third generation of Li-ion batteries. Low investment and operation costs guarantee competitiveness with different technologies. The contemporary research is focused on development of nanostructured lithium titanate layers suitable for high performance of the battery.
